ICOMOS General Assembly, at its 11th session in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 30-7 to 7-8-1993
Considering the stature of that heritage is to cover the concept of monuments, groups of buildings and sites (Monuments, ensembles, sites);
Considering that the conservation of our heritage requires action, and how to handle very diverse, and the need to have a general rule to guide the implementation;
Recognizing that many different professions need to work together under a common rule to implement conservation, and should have an education and training appropriate to ensure there is a good knowledge and an effective coordinated action in conservation;
Noting the Venice Charter and the related doctrine of ICOMOS, and the need to provide a reference system for agencies and organizations involved in the development of training programs, and to help identify and construction standards and criteria can adequately meet the cultural requirements and specific techniques in each community or region;
Accepted the following guiding principles, guidelines and recommendations that should be disseminated and inform the agencies, organizations and the concerned officials.
